About Unolocus

Last Updated: 2026-05-04

Vision

"Everything you need to know about Korea, in one place." Unolocus aims to be a data hub where residents, foreign nationals, and visitors can quickly find practical information about living in or visiting Korea. Starting with Korea, the long-term vision is to expand into Japan, Vietnam, the United States, and other countries.

Mission

We keep complex tax calculations, visa requirements, government benefits, mart closure schedules, and tourist information accurate and up to date so users can make informed decisions on their own. All calculators run entirely in your browser — inputs are never sent to our servers, so you can use them safely without privacy concerns.

Operator

Unolocus is an independent side project run by a single software engineer based in Korea, working in the AI and web development field. It was started in May 2026 to address the information-access difficulties the operator personally observed while helping foreign friends and family settle in Korea. For operational inquiries: contact@unolocus.com.

Current stage (as of May 2026)

We provide 17 Korean tax and labor calculators (gift tax, inheritance tax, capital gains, comprehensive income tax, salary take-home, four major insurances, unemployment benefit, severance pay, annual leave allowance, real estate broker fee, auto tax, VAT, acquisition tax, property tax, comprehensive real estate tax, and two youth benefit tools), 4 guides on government benefits and labor rights, and 6 foreigner tools (K-ETA visa, transport, SIM, mart closures, attractions, travel). The site operates in Korean and English (en-KR).

Content sourcing and verification policy

All seed content is based on official government sources and authoritative primary materials. Major sources include the National Tax Service, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Korea Tourism Organization, and k-eta.go.kr. Source links appear at the bottom of each page. Pages are updated immediately when tax law or government policy changes; general content is reviewed quarterly. English content is AI-translated and then human-reviewed.

Data confidence labels

Information on each page is labeled by verification stage. "Cited from official source" indicates an item confirmed directly against a primary government source; figures marked "estimate" or "quarterly check" should be re-verified by the user on the official page. All tax, legal, and financial results are for reference only — consult a qualified professional before any actual filing or application.

Revenue model

Unolocus is free to use. Operating costs are covered by Google AdSense ads and a small amount of affiliate marketing (Klook, Booking, Wise, etc.). Ads and affiliate links are kept separate from editorial content, and recommended tools or guides are selected based on official sources and user utility — independent of affiliate revenue.

Roadmap

In 2026 we plan to deepen Korean content (more guides, 30+ attractions, expanded visa information). From 2027 onward we plan to expand into Japan (jp), Vietnam (vn), and the United States (us) as resident information hubs. Suggestions for improvement, error reports, and feature requests are always welcome.
